We hold an annual fall conference that presents challenging keynote speakers and extensive workshops that investigate a variety of teaching and curriculum issues and strategies - for both elementary and secondary school history and social science teachers.
   
We publish Rapport, our pedagogical quarterly journal. Rapport presents articles on teaching strategies, curriculum issues and reviews of publications. Our writers are practicing class room teachers, instructors at faculties of education and involved community members interested in the vitality of our schools and learners.
   
We participate and consult in Ministry of Education initiatives to develop and mentor the shape of curriculum innovation in Ontario. Teacher needs are always paramount in these discussions.
   

We foster and promote awareness, appreciation and respect for History and the Social Sciences as vital components of both school and life long learning.
 
We are a thirty year old volunteer organization of practicing History and Social Science teachers in Ontario's elementary and secondary schools.
   
We have a wide membership in Ontario's two public systems as well as in its various private and parochial schools.
   
We have been deeply and widely involved in the development and implementation of Ontario's new curriculum.
   
We support these new initiatives that place the emphasis for learning on a partnership of teachers, students, parents and communities.
   

At the same time, we reflect and represent the concerns and reservations that our membership has about the sweep and the implementation processes of this new curriculum.
