June 30 is the cut-off date for applications for the Critical Thinking Conference.

Description:

This 2 day summer institute, with a later follow-up day, will introduce participants to a critical thinking model which embeds critical inquiry into curriculum design. This year’s institute will be multi leveled with specific workshops for those looking to be introduced to the model and another level for those with experience working with the model and want to delve more deeply into teaching tools that will support student work.

Working with the new Canadian and World Studies and Social Studies documents for grades 9 to 12; as well as the History and Geography policy document for grades 1 to 8, participants will design critical challenges which build on their existing course materials. The materials participants create and work with throughout the two days will provide practical, hands-on approaches to building critical literacy in all students from grades 1 to 12.

Each participant will receive a Critical Challenges resource guide.
